Tariffs Update: Prices Will Hold Until April 30

Tariffs Update: Prices Will Hold Until April 30

Howdy folks!

We’ve got two big pieces of news for you:

  1. R1 wait times are disappearing. Orders that weren’t supposed to go out for another 10 weeks are now scheduled to ship THIS MONTH.
  2. Prices could go up due to tariffs. We promise to hold the price of the R1 and R4 steady through the end of the month. But after April 30, we can’t guarantee prices will stay the same.

WHY ARE LEAD TIMES SHRINKING SO FAST?

Because YOU GUYS created a bunch of new American Manufacturing jobs, just by ordering a HOWL!

We're hiring, training, and getting HOWLs out the door faster than ever before. When we started shipping the R1 on Feb. 10, we could only build 30 units per week. Two months later, we’re shipping 150 R1s every week.

That means your wait time is getting shorter and shorter.

HERE'S WHEN YOUR R1 WILL SHIP:

Orders #2862 - #3079 will now ship this week, by April 11

Orders #3080 - #3273 will now ship next week, by April 18

Orders #3274 - #3447 will now ship by April 25

Orders #3448 - #3587 will now ship by May 2

As of this writing, the next 30 orders will also ship by May 2. If you want your R1 in less than a month, go grab your spot in line!

NOW FOR THE ROUGH NEWS: PRICES MIGHT GO UP

We make every HOWL right here in Colorado, but we’re not immune to the impacts of tariffs.

HOWLs are made of US stainless steel, and US steel prices are rising. We thought some of this was coming, so we pre-bought a lot of material. But with all your orders (THANK YOU!), our pre-buys are running out. If the cost of materials keeps rising, we'll have to raise prices to keep up.

Until April 30, the R4 will still be $1,299, and the R1 will still be $349, same as they've always been. After that, we don't know yet what a HOWL will cost.

If you want to save some scratch, get your order in ASAP!

WHAT COMES NEXT?

It's hard to say. Our politicians’ plans might work, or they might not. Inflation might be permanent, or transient. We might go into a long recession, or a short one. Right now, little seems certain.

But some things do not change.

For thousands of years, we have gathered around the fire. We have enjoyed its warmth and camaraderie through times of plenty and of want, through trade wars and peace talks, through celebrations and calamities, through calms and many storms.

The world today doesn't look the way it did just a few weeks ago. But our task remains the same:

Keep carrying the fire,

– Randall, Alex, Kelly, and Nicholas (the founders)
